Episode 8: How to Get Yourself Sleeping Like a Baby!

“”The shorter you sleep, the shorter your life.”

Truer words…

This week, we’re continuing with out little series on Energy with an episode all about sleep.

Ahhhh, precious sleep. It’s one of the most important things we can do for our bodies. Sleep is a “need to have”, not a “nice to have”, but there are far too many of us that don’t give sleep the attention it deserves. I bet there’s not a person out there who either hasn’t had sleep issues at some point, or knows someone who has. 1 in 3 adults don’t get enough sleep…it’s a real thing, and it gets even worse as we get older (like everything else!). Sleep is critical to our health at the best of times, but it’s especially critical during a pandemic! As adults, we should be getting at least 7 hours of sleep every night – and how many of us are getting that on the reg??

Fear not! We’re here to help. I can promise that the information in today’s episode will help you get a better sleep, every night. I spent most of my life struggling to get a good sleep – I just assumed that’s how I was and there wasn’t much I could do about it. And then I had my kids, so sleep quantity AND quality became an issue. It wasn’t until I was diagnosed with an autoimmune condition that I started to realize the importance of sleep on my health and also that I had to make some changes if I wanted to improve it. I can happily say, I made it a priority to work on the things we’re talking about in today’s episode and I now consider myself a great sleeper! It didn’t happen overnight – like most things worth doing, it takes practice and consistency – but my sleep quality and quantity greatly improved, as did my overall health.

If you are someone who struggles to get to sleep at night, to stay asleep at night, and/or who wakes up feeling tired even after enough hours of sleep, do yourself a favour and listen to today’s episode! I’m speaking especially to those peri or menopausal women who think that’s just the way it is…don’t just accept it. You too, can be an excellent sleeper!
